The Estate: Old and New

Here's my theory: sometimes, a wedding band can become just too successful. When one gets big enough that they think they can record their own album of 50's and 60's covers -- watch out.

Bad and Worse should be the title of this record. Everything from the sound quality to the photography to the selections of the songs looks like it was done by Joey Buttafuoco one weekend when he had some free time at the garage. Actually, The Estate is made up of Roy Stassi, Tom Stassi, and Sal Stassi -- make that three Joey Buttafuocos.

My copy is signed by the band members and dedicated "To Betty and George" -- no doubt a thankless pair of newlyweds who suffered through The Estate's mediocre drivel on their big day. I hope their marriage was more memorable that this record.

But the big news is that Amber's music career could be about to take off like a rocket--once she gets recorded on Subo's 2nd CD! (08-14-2010)

Well, I'm firmly convinced that these guys are not the Beatles. But this isn't bad at all for a bunch of wedding singers with an old Ford. The average Top 40 tune of today would actually be better if songs from these guys were a part of that pool. (08-01-2008)

I won't denigrate the guys who made this record because I don't know them to insult them personally but this record is pretty bad. It's sweet that they're still remembered well but time won't change that this is terrible music. (12-24-2007)

Being a musician, I've never met an Italian who didn't fancy themselves a singer! I haven't heard the band, but give them a break folks. Musicians come in all levels of talent, and I suspect that if these guys have been around for so long, they've made many people happy... people and events that didn't require virtuosos. Entertaining is a talent too. Keep going guys... I'm certain that you've created a lot of good energy. Peace and love.
