The Kids from the Brady Bunch

This is the best of the several Brady Bunch albums that were produced in the early 70's. This one doesn't contain the popular Time To Change tune that Peter Brady sang on the show, but the studio band and overall sound quality on this disc makes it superior to other Brady releases. The recording of Sunshine Day from this album was used verbatim in the Brady Bunch movie, a testament to the contribution that vinyl makes even in today's digital world (ok, they probably used the original studio tape, but still...)

What impressed me most about this record was that I could actually identify each individual Brady in most of the songs -- quite a feat when you consider that there are six children's voices mixed together (or maybe it's a sad commentary on the number of hours I wasted over the years watching television).

This is absolutely my favorite show of all time. I wish there was some sort of "Brady Trivia" game; if there was, I would be really prepared, because I watch the show almost every day.
Everyone always says they liked either Marcia, or Jan, because they were pretty or the two youngest because they were cute, or Greg, because he was the leader. But personally, my all-time favorite is Peter. I love him; he has all the best episodes, and by the fifth season, he was REALLY handsome.

I really don't care what anyone else says about hating the show or the characters because I know that I like it and that's what counts.

Being a lifelong Californian, growing up outside of Los Angeles in the 1970s it was common to see movie and TV stars in public places, less common today. Right after The Bradys went off the air we saw Maureen McCormack in a restaurant. She was wearing this tight mini-skirt hitched all the way up to you-know-where. I have this album somewhere in my mom's basement. Got is a gift. Played it once. Now I'm glad I still have it. Awful when it came out, but in that weird Brady kind of way. Like Dexter said we mocked the TV show but liked the individual performers. (12-04-2007)
