The Kids from the Brady Bunch

Who needs the Partridge Family? These kids do it all -- they even cover the Beatles!

This is the best of the several Brady Bunch albums that were produced in the early 70's. This one doesn't contain the popular Time To Change tune that Peter Brady sang on the show, but the studio band and overall sound quality on this disc makes it superior to other Brady releases. The recording of Sunshine Day from this album was used verbatim in the Brady Bunch movie, a testament to the contribution that vinyl makes even in today's digital world (ok, they probably used the original studio tape, but still...)

What impressed me most about this record was that I could actually identify each individual Brady in most of the songs -- quite a feat when you consider that there are six children's voices mixed together (or maybe it's a sad commentary on the number of hours I wasted over the years watching television).

I love the episode when the are all in the bus, and the mother (who is usually driving) gets pulled over for DWI, then while in Jail, the whole family plays, "I think I love you!" Just the right song for those jailhouse romances. Then some dude named Ruben Sandwich cames and bails them out. Then on the way home from jail, the mother hits a crossing gaurd, and the whole thing starts all over again. Bring back the 70's!!! Please excuse me, my asylum awaits for me....... (03-07-1999)

Of course this actually means, if I had a choice to date either (will never happen, and I'm not loosing sleep over it), I would pick Cindy. Well, be to work. (01-28-1999)

Mark grindell (markg_44@hotmail.com) says:
I have four kids and a wife. The kids got the movie on a whim with other stuff. The result - they absolutely latched onto it. The girls, who are very young, really dug "sunshine day" and the boys and I played it and it sounded really groovy.... This movie is like, totally subversive, man. I mean, it takes the mickey out of the 90's, and I strongly suspect this is the hidden agenda of the producers. You know, Paramount have a lot of loot stashed invested in the current culture, and yet they allow this movie, which makes everything associated with Grunge and Curt Cobain like really *dumb*, and whats more, the current tenagers as animated corpses (which is probably about right - this is Australia talking here, a suicide rate higher than any other form of death including Vietnam, if that was going on right now). The bradies are projected as entirely normal people in a sea of psychotics. And this got through the board of directors at Paramount? What the hell is goin on here guys? Hummm?? Maybe once the word is out, like, if people suddenly see the music crap out there as anyone would have seen it a few years ago, the entire industry will get wiped out ... The stock market will be next... Viva the revolution! Pass me my tie dyed T-shirt! "If there was a nuclear war, all that would be left would be Nerds and Cockroaches" (abid Revenge of the Nerds) (01-25-1999)
